1 이후에 그분께서는 사람들이 항상 기도해야 하고 낙담하지 말아야 한다는 이런 취지에서 그들에게 비유로

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

2 이같이 일러 말씀하셨느니라. “어떤 도시에 한 판관이 있었는데 그는 하나님을 두려워하지 않았으며, 사람을 귀하게 여기지도 아니하였느니라.

Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

3 그리고 그 도시에 한 과부가 있었는데 그녀가 그에게 가서 말하기를, ‘저의 대적에게 저의 복수를 해 주소서.’ 하였느니라.

And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

4 그리고 그가 얼마 동안은 해 주려 하지 아니하였으나 그 후에는 그가 속으로 스스로 이같이 말하였느니라. ‘비록 내가 하나님을 두려워하지도 아니하고 사람을 존중하지도 아니하나

And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

5 그럼에도 이 과부가 나를 곤란하게 하니 내가 그녀의 복수를 해 주어서 그녀로 하여금 계속 찾아오지 않게 하여 그녀가 나를 지치지 않게 하겠노라.’”

Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

6 이어서 주께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “불공정한 판관이 말하는 것을 들으라.

And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

7 그런즉 하나님께서 자기 자신의 택함받은 자들이 주야로 그분께 부르짖는데, 비록 그분께서 그들에게 오랫동안 참고 계실지라도 복수해 주지 아니하시겠느냐?

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

8 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 그분께서 그들에게 신속하게 복수하시리라. 그럼에도 불구하고 인자가 올 때면 그가 지상에서 믿음을 발견하겠느냐?”

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

9 이후에 자신들이 의롭다고 하며 자신들을 신뢰하고 다른 이들을 멸시한 어떤 자들에게 그분께서 이 비유를 말씀하셨느니라.

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

10 “두 남자가 기도하러 성전 안으로 올라갔느니라. 한 명은 바리새파 사람이요, 다른 한 명은 세리라.

Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11 그 바리새파 사람은 서서 본인이 이렇게 기도하였느니라. ‘하나님, 제가 다른 사람들과 같지 아니함을 제가 당신께 감사하노니, 곧 착취하는 자들이나, 부당한 자들이나, 간음하는 자들이나, 바로 이 세리와 같지 아니함을 감사하나이다.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

12 저는 일주일에 두 번 금식하나이다. 저는 제가 소유한 모든 것의 십일조들을 드리나이다.’

I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13 그런데 멀리 떨어져 서 있던 세리는 그의 두 눈을 하늘에 들어 올리지조차 못하고 다만 자기 가슴을 치면서 말하기를, ‘하나님께서 죄인인 저에게 자비를 베풀어 주시길 바라나이다.’ 하였느니라.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

14 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 다른 한 명보다도 오히려 이 사람이 정당함을 입증받아 자기 집으로 내려갔느니라. 이는 스스로를 크게 높이는 모든 자마다 낮춰질 것이요, 스스로를 겸손하게 하는 자는 크게 높여질 것이기 때문이라.”

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

15 이후에 그들은 유아들까지도 그분께 데려와서 그들을 그분께서 쓰다듬어 주시기 바랐더라. 그러나 그분의 제자들이 그것을 보자 제자들은 그들을 꾸짖었더라.

And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

16 그러나 예수님께서 그들을 자신에게로 불러서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “어린아이들이 나에게 오는 것을 승낙하고 그들을 금하지 말라. 이는 하나님의 왕국이 그러한 자들의 것이기 때문이라.

But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

17 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘누구든지 하나님의 왕국을 어린아이처럼 받아들이지 아니할 자는 절대 그곳에 들어가지 못하리라.’”

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

18 이후에 어떤 치리자 한 명이 그분께 여쭈며 말씀드리기를, “선한 스승이여, 제가 영생을 상속받으려면 무엇을 해야 하나이까?” 하였느니라.

And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

19 그러자 예수님께서 그에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “네가 무슨 이유로 나를 선하다고 하느냐? 선한 이는 한 분, 곧 하나님 외에는 아무도 없느니라.

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

20 너는 명령들을 아나니, ‘간음하지 말라. 살인하지 말라. 도둑질하지 말라. 거짓 증거하지 말라. 너의 아버지와 너의 어머니를 공경하라.’ 하는 것이라.”

Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

21 그러자 그가 말씀드리기를, “저는 이 모든 것들은 저의 어린 시절부터 쭉 지켜 왔나이다.” 하였더라.

And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.

22 이때 예수님께서 이것들을 들으시자 친히 그에게 말씀하시기를, “너는 한 가지가 아직 부족하도다. 네가 소유한 것들을 모두 팔아서 가난한 자들에게 나누어 주라. 그리하면 너는 하늘에서 보물을 소유하리라. 그런 다음에 와서 나를 따르라.” 하셨느니라.

Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

23 그러자 그가 이것을 들었을 때 그는 몹시 슬퍼하였더라. 이는 그가 매우 부유하였기 때문이라.

And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

24 이에 예수님께서 그가 몹시 슬퍼하는 것을 보시고 친히 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “재물들을 가진 자들이 하나님의 왕국에 들어가기가 얼마나 어려운가!

And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

25 이는 부유한 사람이 하나님의 왕국에 들어가는 것보다는 낙타가 바늘귀를 통과하는 것이 더 쉽기 때문이라.”

For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 그러자 그것을 들은 자들이 말하기를, “그렇다면 누가 구원받을 수 있겠는가?” 하였더라.

And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?

27 이에 그분께서 말씀하시기를 “사람들에게는 불가능한 것들도 하나님께는 가능하니라.” 하셨느니라.

And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

28 그때 베드로가 말씀드리기를, “보소서, 우리는 모든 것을 버려두고 당신을 따랐나이다.” 하였더라.

Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

29 그러자 그분께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘집이나 부모나 형제들이나 아내나 자녀들을 하나님의 왕국을 위하여 버려둔 자 중에서

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

30 이 현시대에서 여러 배로 더 받지 못할 자가 아무도 없으며, 다가올 세상에서 영생을 받지 못할 자가 아무도 없으리라.’”

Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

31 ¶ 그때 그분께서 열두 명을 자신에게로 데리고 오셔서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “보라, 우리가 예루살렘으로 올라가노라. 그리하면 예언자들에 의하여 인자에 관해 기록된 모든 것들이 성취되리라.

¶ Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

32 이는 그가 이방인들에게 넘겨질 것이며, 조롱당할 것이요, 악의적인 처우를 받으며 침 뱉음을 당할 것이기 때문이라.

For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

33 그런즉 그들이 그를 채찍질할 것이요, 그를 사형에 처할 것이라. 그런 다음에 셋째 날에 그가 다시 살아나리라.”

And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

34 그런데 그들은 이것들 중 아무것도 이해하지 못하였더라. 그리고 이렇게 말씀하신 것이 그들에게 숨겨졌으니, 언급된 것들도 그들은 몰랐더라.

And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

35 ¶ 이후에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그분께서 예리코 부근에 당도하셨을 때 어떤 눈먼 남자 한 명이 길가에서 구걸하면서 앉아 있었더라.

¶ And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

36 그리고 무리가 옆으로 지나가는 것을 들었으므로 그가 그것이 무슨 의미인지 물었더라.

And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.

37 그러자 그들이 그에게 알려 주었으니, 나사렛의 예수님께서 옆으로 지나가신다고 하였더라.

And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.

38 이에 그가 부르짖어 말씀드리기를, “예수님, 다윗의 자손이신 당신이여, 제게 자비를 베푸소서.” 하였더라.

And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

39 그러자 앞에 가던 자들이 그에게 그의 침묵을 지키라고 하며 그를 꾸짖었더라. 그러나 그는 훨씬 더 크게 부르짖었으니, “다윗의 자손이신 당신이여, 제게 자비를 베푸소서.” 하였더라.

And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

40 이에 예수님께서 서서 그가 자신에게로 인도되도록 명령하셨느니라. 그러자 그가 가까이 왔을 때 그분께서 그에게 물으시며

And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,

41 말씀하시기를, “너는 내가 너에게 무엇을 해 주기를 바라느냐?” 하셨느니라. 이에 그가 말씀드리기를, “주여, 저는 저의 시력을 받고 싶나이다.” 하였더라.

Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

42 그러자 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “너의 시력을 받으라. 너의 믿음이 너를 구원하였도다.” 하셨느니라.

And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

43 이에 그가 즉시 자신의 시력을 받았고, 하나님께 영광을 돌리면서 그분을 따랐더라. 그리하여 모든 백성은 자신들이 그것을 목격하였을 때 하나님께 찬송을 드렸더라.

And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

이전 장 다음 장
