1 이후에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 백성이 하나님의 말씀을 듣고자 그분께 몰려드는 동안 그분께서 게네사렛 호숫가에 서 계셨고

And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2 호숫가에 정박하고 있는 선박 두 척을 보셨더라. 그러나 어부들이 그 선박들에서 나와서 자신들의 그물들을 씻고 있었더라.

And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

3 그러자 그분께서 그 선박들 중에서 시몬의 소유였던 한 척의 선박 안으로 들어가셨고, 그로 하여금 육지에서 바깥으로 조금 나가도록 그에게 부탁하셨더라. 그리하여 그분께서 앉으셨고 그 선박에서부터 백성을 가르치셨더라.

And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

4 이제 그분께서 말씀을 마치신 후에 친히 시몬에게 이르시기를, “깊은 곳으로 진출하라. 그리고 너희의 그물들을 내리고 한차례 끌어올리라.” 하셨느니라.

Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5 그러자 시몬이 그분께 대답하며 말씀드리기를, “스승님, 우리가 밤새 애써 일하였는데 아무것도 잡지 못하였나이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 당신의 말씀에 따라 제가 그물을 내리겠나이다.” 하였더라.

And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6 그리하여 그들이 이를 실행하자 그들은 수많은 무리의 물고기들을 포획하였고 그들의 그물은 찢어졌더라.

And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

7 그리하여 그들이 다른 선박에 있던 자신들의 동업자들에게 몸짓하여 그들이 와서 자신들을 돕도록 하였더라. 이에 그들이 와서 양쪽 선박 모두를 가득 채우니 그렇게 되자 그 선박들이 가라앉기 시작하였더라.

And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

8 시몬 베드로가 그것을 보자 그는 예수님의 두 무릎 앞에 엎드려 말씀드리기를, “저를 떠나가소서. 오, 주여, 이는 제가 죄 많은 사람이기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

9 이는 그들이 끌어올려 잡은 물고기들의 어획량에 그가 깜짝 놀랐기 때문이니, 그와 함께한 자들도 모두 그러하였더라.

For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:

10 그리고 시몬의 동업자들이었던 세배대의 아들들인 야고보와 요한 역시도 그러하였더라. 그리하여 예수님께서 시몬에게 말씀하시기를, “두려워하지 말라. 이제부터 너는 사람들을 낚으리라.” 하셨느니라.

And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

11 그런즉 그들이 자신들의 선박들을 육지에 대자 그들은 모든 것을 버려두고 그분을 따랐더라.

And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

12 ¶ 이후에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그분께서 어떤 도시에 계셨을 때라. 보라, 전신에 나병으로 가득한 남자가 예수님을 보고서 자기 얼굴을 바닥에 대고 엎드려 그분께 간청하며 말씀드리기를, “주여, 만일 당신께서 원하신다면, 당신께서는 저를 정결하게 하실 수 있나이다.” 하였더라.

¶ And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

13 그러자 그분께서 자기 손을 내밀어 그를 만지며 말씀하시기를, “내가 원하노니, 너는 정결해지라.” 하셨느니라. 그러자 즉시 나병이 그에게서 떠났더라.

And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

14 이에 그분께서 그에게 명하시기를, “아무에게도 알리지 말고 다만 가서 너 자신을 제사장에게 보이고, 네가 정결하게 된 것으로 인하여 그들을 향한 간증으로 모세가 명령한 것에 따라 예물을 바치라.” 하셨더라.

And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

15 그러나 그럴수록 그분의 명성이 더 널리 퍼져 나갔더라. 그리하여 수많은 무리들이 말씀을 듣기 위하여 그리고 자신의 병약함들을 치유받기 위하여 한데 모였더라.

But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

16 ¶ 그러자 그분께서는 스스로 광야로 물러나셔서 기도하셨더라.

¶ And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

17 그러고 나서 어느 한 날에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그분께서 가르치시는 동안 바리새파 사람들과 율법 박사들이 곁에 앉아 있었는데 그들은 갈릴리의 각각의 마을과 유대와 예루살렘에서 나온 자들이라. 그리고 주의 권능이 임재하여 그들을 치유하였더라.

And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

18 ¶ 그리고 보라, 사람들이 중풍에 걸린 남자를 침상째 데리고 왔더라. 그런 다음에 그들이 그를 안으로 데려갈 수단들과 그분 앞에 그를 내려놓을 수단들을 찾았더라.

¶ And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.

19 그런데 무리로 인하여 그들 자신이 그를 안으로 들일 어떤 방법을 발견하지 못하자 그들은 옥상으로 올라갔으며 지붕 덮개를 통하여 예수님 앞 한가운데로 그를 그의 침상째 내렸더라.

And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

20 이에 그분께서 그들의 믿음을 보시자 친히 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “사람아, 너의 죄들이 너에게서 용서되었느니라.” 하셨느니라.

And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

21 이에 서기관들과 바리새파 사람들이 논의하기 시작하며 말하기를, “신성 모독적인 말들을 하는 이 사람은 누구인가? 오직 하나님 외에는 죄들을 용서할 수 있는 이가 누구란 말인가?” 하였더라.

And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

22 그러나 예수님께서 그들의 생각들을 아셨을 때 그분께서는 그들에게 반응하며 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너희가 너희의 마음속으로 무엇을 논의하느냐?

But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?

23 ‘너의 죄들이 너에게서 용서되기를 바라노라.’ 하고 말하는 것과 ‘일어나서 걸어가라.’ 하고 말하는 것 중에 어느 것이 더 쉬우냐?

Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?

24 그러나 이는 인자가 땅 위에서 죄들을 용서하는 권능이 있음을 너희로 하여금 알게 하려는 것이라.” (그분께서 중풍병 환자에게 말씀하시기를,) “내가 너에게 말하노니, ‘일어나서 너의 침대를 들어 올리고 너의 집 안으로 들어가라.’” 하셨느니라.

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

25 그러자 그가 즉시 그들 앞에서 일어나서 자신이 그 위에 누웠던 것을 들어 올렸고 하나님께 영광을 돌리면서 자기 자신의 집으로 떠났더라.

And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

26 그러자 그들이 모두 놀랐더라. 그리고 그들이 하나님께 영광을 돌렸으며 두려움으로 가득 차 말하기를, “우리가 오늘 기묘한 일들을 목격하였도다.” 하였더라.

And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.

27 ¶ 그리고 이 일들이 있은 후에 그분께서 나아가셔서 레위란 이름으로 불리는 세리가 관세를 받는 곳에 앉아 있는 것을 보셨더라. 그러자 그분께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “나를 따르라.” 하셨느니라.

¶ And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.

28 이에 그가 모든 것을 버려두고 일어나서 그분을 따랐더라.

And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

29 그리고 레위가 자기 자신의 집 안에서 그분께 성대한 잔치를 마련하였더라. 그런즉 거기에는 세리들과 그들과 함께 앉은 다른 이들의 커다란 집단이 있었더라.

And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.

30 그러나 그들의 서기관들과 바리새파 사람들이 그분의 제자들을 거슬러 불평하며 말하기를, “어찌하여 너희는 세리들과 죄인들과 함께 먹고 마시느냐?” 하였더라.

But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

31 그러자 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하며 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “온전한 자들에게는 의사가 필요하지 않도다. 그러나 병든 자들에게는 필요하니라.

And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

32 나는 의로운 자들을 부르러 온 것이 아니요, 다만 죄인들을 불러 회개에 이르게 하려고 왔노라.”

I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

33 ¶ 그러자 그들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “어찌하여 요한의 제자들은 빈번히 금식하고 기도하며 마찬가지로 바리새파 사람들의 제자들도 그리하는데 이에 반해 당신의 제자들은 먹고 마시나이까?” 하였더라.

¶ And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?

34 그러자 그분께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “신랑이 혼인 방의 아이들과 함께 있는 동안 너희는 혼인 방의 아이들을 금식하게 할 수 있느냐?

And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

35 그러나 그들이 신랑을 빼앗기게 될 날들이 오리니, 그리하면 그때 그들은 그날들에 금식하리라.”

But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

36 ¶ 그런 다음에 또한 그분께서 그들에게 한 가지 비유를 말씀하셨느니라. “아무도 새 의복에서 나온 조각을 오래된 의복 위에 붙이지 아니하느니라. 만일 그렇게 하면, 그때는 새 의복도 찢어지게 만들며, 새 의복에서 뗀 그 조각도 오래된 의복에 적합하지 아니하니라.

¶ And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.

37 그리고 새 포도즙을 오래된 부대들에 넣는 사람은 아무도 없느니라. 그렇게 하면 새 포도즙은 부대들을 터뜨리고 쏟아질 것이요, 부대들도 망가질 것이라.

And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.

38 그러나 새 포도즙은 새 부대들에 넣어야만 하느니라. 그리하면 둘 다 보존되느니라.

But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.

39 또한 오래된 포도즙을 마시고서 곧바로 새 포도즙을 갈망하는 자는 아무도 없느니라. 이는 그가 말하기를, ‘오래된 것이 더 낫다.’ 하기 때문이라.”

No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
