1 오, 이스라엘 집아, 너희는 주께서 너희에게 이야기하시는 말씀을 들으라.
1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
2 주가 이같이 말하노라. 이교도들의 길을 배우지 말고 하늘의 표적들에 낙담하지 말라. 이는 이교도들이 그런 것들에 낙담하기 때문이라.
2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 이는 백성들의 풍습들이 헛되기 때문이니, 이는 누군가 숲의 한 나무를 베는데 기술자의 두 손이 도끼로 얻은 결과물이기 때문이라.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 그들이 그것을 은과 금으로 꾸미고, 그것을 못들과 망치들로 고정시켜 그것이 움직이지 아니하게 하는도다.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 그것들은 종려나무같이 올곧으나 말을 못 하는도다. 그것들은 다닐 수 없어서 반드시 그것들이 짊어지워져야 하는도다. 그것들을 무서워하지 말라. 이는 그것들이 악을 행할 수 없으며, 또한 그것들 안에 선을 행하는 것도 없기 때문이라.
5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
6 오, 주여, 당신과 같은 분이 아무도 없기 때문이니이다. 당신께서는 위대하시며 당신의 이름은 위세에 있어서 위대하시나이다.
6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
7 오, 민족들의 왕이여, 누가 당신을 두려워하지 아니하겠나이까? 이는 그것이 당신께 속해 있기 때문이니이다. 민족들 중 모든 지혜로운 사람들 가운데서도, 그들의 모든 왕국들 안에서도 당신과 같은 분은 아무도 없기 때문이니이다.
7 Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
8 그러나 그들은 하나같이 짐승 같고 어리석나이다. 통나무는 헛된 것들의 교리니이다.
8 But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
9 평판들로 깐 은박은 타르시시에서, 금은 우파즈에서 들였으니, 기술자의 작업물이자 주물공의 손들에서 난 것이라. 청색과 자주색이 그것들의 옷으로 입혀졌도다. 그것들은 모두 솜씨 좋은 자들의 작품이라.
9 Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.
10 그러나 주께서는 참 하나님이시요, 그분께서는 살아 계신 하나님이시요, 영원한 왕이시라. 그분의 진노에 땅이 떨 것이요, 민족들은 그분의 격분을 능히 견디지 못하리라.
10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
11 너희는 그들에게 이같이 말할지니라. 하늘들과 땅을 만들지 아니한 신들, 바로 그들은 땅에서도, 이 하늘들 아래에서도 멸망하리라.
11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
12 그분께서 자신의 권능으로 땅을 만드셨고, 친히 자신의 지혜로 세상을 확고히 세우셨으며, 그분의 분별로 하늘들을 펼치셨도다.
12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
13 그분께서 자신의 음성을 발하실 때 하늘들 안에 한 무더기의 물들이 있으니, 그분께서 땅의 끝들에서 수증기들을 올라오게 하시는도다. 그분께서 비를 동반한 번개들을 만드시고 그분의 보물 창고들에서 바람을 나오게 하시는도다.
13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
14 모든 사람은 저마다 그의 지식에 있어서 짐승 같도다. 모든 주물공마다 조각된 형상으로 인하여 당혹스러워하는도다. 이는 그의 주조된 형상이 거짓이요, 그것들 속에 호흡이 없기 때문이라.
14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
15 그것들은 헛된 것이요, 과오들의 결과물이라. 그것들의 감찰의 때에 그것들이 망하리라.
15 They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
16 야곱의 몫은 그것들과 같지 아니하도다. 이는 그분께서 만물을 형성하신 분이시며, 이스라엘은 그분의 유산의 막대기이기 때문이라. 만군의 주가 그분의 이름이로다.
16 The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.
17 ¶ 오, 견고한 요새의 거주자여, 그 지역에서 너의 제조품들을 꺼내서 다 모으라.
17 ¶ Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress.
18 이는 주가 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 보라, 내가 이번 한 번에 그 지역의 거주자들을 무릿매에 던지겠고, 그들이 그와 같이 알 수 있도록 그들을 괴롭히겠노라.
18 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so.
19 ¶ 나의 상함으로 인하여 나에게 화가 있도다! 나의 상처가 참혹하도다. 그러나 내가 말하기를, “참으로 이것은 비통함이니, 나는 반드시 그것을 참아야 하는도다.” 하였도다.
19 ¶ Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it.
20 나의 장막이 약탈당하였고 나의 모든 끈들이 끊어졌도다. 나의 자식들이 나에게서 나갔으니 그들이 없도다. 더 이상 나의 천막을 펼칠 자와 나의 가림막들을 세울 자가 아무도 없도다.
20 My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
21 이는 목양자들이 짐승같이 되어 주를 찾지 아니하기 때문이라. 그러므로 그들은 번영하지 못할 것이요, 그들의 모든 양 떼들도 흩어지리라.
21 For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
22 보라, 시끌벅적한 풍설이 당도하였고, 북방 나라에서 크나큰 격동이 당도하였나니, 유다의 도시들을 황량하게 하고 용들의 소굴로 만들기 위함이라.
22 Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.
23 ¶ 오, 주여, 사람의 길이 그 사람 안에 있지 아니함을 제가 아나이다. 그의 걸음들을 인도하는 것이 걸어가는 사람 안에 있지 아니하나이다.
23 ¶ O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
24 오, 주여, 저를 공의로 바로잡으시되 당신의 분노 가운데 하지는 마소서. 당신께서 저를 없애실까 하나이다.
24 O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
25 당신을 모르는 이교도들 위와 당신의 이름을 부르지 아니하는 족속들 위에 당신의 노여움을 쏟아부으소서. 이는 그들이 야곱을 먹어 치웠고 그를 집어삼켰으며 그를 진멸시켰고 그의 거처를 황량하게 만들었기 때문이니이다.
25 Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.
