1 이제 이것들은 예언자 예레미야가 예루살렘에서 보낸 편지의 말들이니, 포로로 잡혀간 장로들 중 남아 있는 자들과 제사장들과 예언자들과, 네부카드네자르가 예루살렘에서 바빌론까지 포로로 잡아간 온 백성에게 보낸 것이라.
1 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;
2 (여코니야왕과, 왕비와, 내시들과, 유다와 예루살렘의 통치자들과, 목수들과, 대장장이들이 예루살렘으로부터 떠나게 된 이후라.)
2 (After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)
3 샤판의 아들 엘라사와, 힐키야의 아들 그마리야의 편에 부친 것이니, (그들은 유다 왕 시드키야가 바빌론 왕 네부카드네자르에게 보내기 위해 바빌론으로 보낸 자들로서) 이같이 말하였느니라.
3 By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,
4 “포로들로 잡혀간 모든 자들에게 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노니, 그들은 내가 예루살렘에서 바빌론으로 잡혀가게 한 자들이라.
4 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;
5 ¶ 너희는 집들을 건축하고 그것들 안에 거하며 정원들을 가꾸고 그곳들에서 나는 열매를 먹으라.
5 ¶ Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
6 너희는 아내들을 취하여 아들들과 딸들을 낳으라. 그리하여 너희의 아들들에게 아내들을 얻어 주고 너희의 딸들에게 남편들을 얻어 주어 그들이 아들들과 딸들을 낳을 수 있게 하라. 이는 너희가 거기서 늘어나게 되고 감소하게 되지 않게 하려는 것이라.
6 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.
7 그리고 너희는, 내가 너희를 포로들로 잡히게 하여 보낸 그 도시의 화평을 구하고 그곳을 위하여 주께 기도하라. 이는 그곳의 화평 가운데서 너희도 화평을 얻게 하려 함이라.
7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
8 이는 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 너희 한가운데 있는 너희의 예언자들과 너희의 점술가들이 너희를 속이지 못하게 하라. 또한 너희가 꾸도록 야기한 너희의 꿈들에 경청하지도 말라.
8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
9 이는 그들이 너희에게 나의 이름으로 거짓되이 예언하기 때문이라. 나는 그들을 보내지 아니하였노라. 주가 말하노라.
9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.
10 ¶ 이는 주가 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 바빌론에서 칠십 년이 찬 이후에 내가 너희에게 찾아오리니, 너희를 이 장소로 귀환하게 함으로써 너희를 향한 나의 선한 말을 완수하겠노라.
10 ¶ For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
11 이는 내가 너희를 향하여 생각하는 그 생각들을 내가 알기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라. 그것은 화평을 생각하는 것들이요, 해악을 생각하는 것들이 아니니, 기대하던 결말을 너희에게 주고자 함이라.
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12 ¶ 그때 너희는 나를 부를지니, 너희는 가서 나에게 기도할지니라. 그리하면 내가 너희에게 경청하리라.
12 ¶ Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 그리고 너희가 너희의 마음을 다하여 나를 찾을 때, 너희는 나를 구할 것이요, 나를 발견하리라.
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14 그런즉 내가 너희에게 발견되겠노라. 주가 말하노라. 그리고 나는 너희의 포로 신분을 돌려놓고 내가 너희를 몰아내서 그리로 보낸 모든 민족들로부터, 모든 장소들로부터 너희를 모으겠노라. 주가 말하노라. 그리하여 내가 너희를 다시 데려오리니, 내가 너희로 하여금 포로로 잡혀가게 한 그 장소로 친히 너희를 다시 데려오겠노라.
14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
15 ¶ 이는 너희가 말하기를, ‘주께서 바빌론 안에서 우리에게 예언자들을 일으키셨도다.’ 한 까닭이라.
15 ¶ Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
16 다윗의 보좌 위에 앉는 왕과, 이 도성 안에 거하는 온 백성과, 너희와 함께 포로로 떠나가지 아니하게 된 너희의 형제들에 관하여 주가 이같이 말하는 것을 알라.
16 Know that thus saith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;
17 만군의 주가 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 그들 위에 칼과 기근과 역병을 보내겠으니, 그들을 하찮은 무화과들처럼 만들겠으니, 그것들은 너무 악질이어서 섭취될 수 없는 것들이라.
17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
18 그리고 내가 칼과 기근과 역병으로 그들을 박해하겠으니, 땅의 모든 왕국들로 옮겨지도록 그들을 넘겨서 내가 그들을 그리로 몰아낸 모든 민족들 사이에서 저주와 경악 거리와 쉭쉭대는 야유 거리와 치욕이 되게 하겠노라.
18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:
19 이는 그들이 나의 말들에 경청하지 아니한 까닭이라. 주가 말하노라. 그 말들은 내가 일찍 일어나서 보낸 자들인 나의 종들, 곧 예언자들을 통하여 그들에게 보낸 것들이라. 그러나 너희는 경청하려 하지 아니하였도다. 주가 말하노라.
19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD.
20 ¶ 그러므로 내가 예루살렘에서 바빌론으로 보낸 포로에 속한 너희 모두여, 너희는 주의 말씀을 들으라.
20 ¶ Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:
21 나의 이름으로 너희에게 거짓말을 예언하는, 콜라야의 아들 아합과, 마아세야의 아들 시드키야에 관하여 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 그들을 바빌론 왕 네부카드레자르의 손안에 넘기겠노라. 그리하면 그가 너희의 눈앞에서 그들을 살해하리라.
21 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;
22 그리고 바빌론에 있는 유다 출신의 모든 포로에 의하여 저주가 되리니, ‘주가 너를 바빌론 왕이 불속에서 구운 시드키야와 아합처럼 만드시기를 바라노라.’ 하고 말하리라.
22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;
23 이는 그들이 이스라엘 안에서 간악한 짓을 저질렀고 자기 이웃들의 아내들과 간음하였으며 내가 그들에게 명령하지 아니한 거짓된 말들을 나의 이름으로 전한 까닭이라. 바로 내가 아노니, 내가 증인이라. 주가 말하노라.
23 Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD.
24 ¶ 너는 또한 느헬람족 셰마야에게도 이같이 일러 말할지니라.
24 ¶ Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,
25 ‘만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 일러 말하노라. 이는 네가 너의 이름으로 예루살렘에 있는 온 백성과 제사장 마아세야의 아들 스바냐와 모든 제사장에게 편지들을 보내며 이같이 말하였기 때문이라.
25 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
26 ‘주께서 제사장 여호야다 대신에 너를 제사장으로 삼으신 것은 너희가 주의 집 안에서 관원들이 되게 함이라. 이는 미쳐서 스스로 예언자 행세를 하는 각인으로 인함이니, 너로 하여금 그를 감옥에 넣고 차꼬들로 채우게 하려 함이라.
26 The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.
27 그러므로 이제 어찌하여 너는 너희에게 스스로 예언자 노릇하는 아나돗의 예레미야를 책망하지 아니하였느냐?
27 Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you?
28 이는 이러한 이유에서 그가 바빌론에 있는 우리에게 사람을 보내서 말하기를, ‘이 포로 생활은 길도다. 너희는 집들을 건축하고 그곳들 안에 거하라. 그리고 정원들을 가꾸어 그것들에서 나는 열매를 먹으라.’ 하기 때문이라.’’”
28 For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
29 이에 제사장 스바냐가 이 편지를 예언자 예레미야의 두 귀에 읽어 주었더라.
29 And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
30 ¶ 그때 주의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.
30 ¶ Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
31 “포로에 속한 모든 자들에게 사람을 보내며 이같이 말하라. ‘주가 느헬람족 셰마야에 관하여 이같이 말하노라. 셰마야가 너희에게 예언하였으나 나는 그를 보내지 아니하였고 그가 너희에게 거짓말을 신뢰하게 한 까닭이라.
31 Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:
32 그러므로 주가 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 느헬람족 셰마야와 그의 씨에 형벌을 내리노라. 그에게서는 이 백성 가운데 거할 사람이 한 명도 없으리라. 또한 내가 나의 백성을 위하여 행하려고 하는 선한 일을 그는 보지 못하리라. 주가 말하노라. 이는 그가 주를 대적하는 반역을 가르친 까닭이라.’”
32 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.
