1 주가 이같이 말하노라. 가서 토기장이의 질그릇 병 하나를 구하고 백성의 원로들과 제사장들의 원로들 중 몇을 데리고
1 Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;
2 동문 출입구 옆에 있는, 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기로 출발하라. 그리하여 내가 너에게 알릴 말들을 거기서 반포하여
2 And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,
3 이같이 말하라. “오, 유다의 왕들과 예루살렘의 거주자들아, 너희는 주의 말씀을 들으라. 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 이 장소 위에 해악을 가져오겠노라. 누구든지 그것을 듣는 자는 그의 두 귀가 따가우리라.
3 And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.
4 이는 그들이 나를 버렸고 이 장소를 낯설게 만들었으며, 그들도, 그들의 조상들도, 유다의 왕들도 몰랐던 다른 신들에게 그곳 안에서 향을 태웠고 무고한 자들의 피로 이 장소를 채웠기 때문이라.
4 Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
5 또한 그들은 바알의 높은 처소들을 건축하였는데 바알에게 바치는 번제물들로서 자신들의 아들들을 태우고자 함이니, 그것은 내가 명령한 것이 아니요, 그것을 이야기하지도 아니하였으며 그것은 내 생각 속으로 들어온 것도 아니니라.
5 They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:
6 그러므로 보라, 그날들이 오나니, 이 장소가 더 이상 토펫이라 불리지 아니할 것이요, ‘힌놈의 아들의 골짜기’라 불리지도 아니할 것이요, 다만 ‘살육의 골짜기’라 불리리라. 주가 말하노라.
6 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.
7 그런즉 내가 이 장소 안에서 유다와 예루살렘의 계획을 무효로 만들겠노라. 그리하여 내가 그들을 그들의 원수들 앞에서 칼에 의하여 쓰러지게 하겠으니, 곧 그들의 생명들을 찾는 자들의 손들에 의해서라. 그리하면 나는 그들의 사체들을 하늘의 날짐승들과 땅의 짐승들을 위한 음식이 되도록 주겠노라.
7 And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
8 그리고 나는 이 도성을 황량하게 만들겠고 쉭쉭대는 야유 거리로 만들겠노라. 그곳을 지나다니는 모든 자마다 경악하고 그곳의 모든 재앙들로 인하여 쉭쉭대며 야유하리라.
8 And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.
9 그리고 내가 그들로 하여금 자신들의 아들들의 살과 자신들의 딸들의 살을 먹게 하겠으며, 그들이 모두 저마다 자신의 친구의 살을 먹으리니, 그들의 원수들과 그들의 생명들을 찾는 자들이 포위와 궁지로써 그들을 궁지로 몰아갈 때 그리하리라.”
9 And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.
10 그때 너는 너와 함께 가는 사람들의 목전에서 그 병을 깨뜨릴지니라.
10 Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,
11 그런 다음에 그들에게 이같이 말하라. “만군의 주가 이같이 말하노라. 마치 누군가가 토기장이의 그릇을 깨뜨리면 그것을 다시 온전하게 만들 수 없듯이 내가 이 백성과 이 도시를 바로 그와 같이 깨뜨리겠노라. 그리하면 그들은 토펫 안에 매장할 장소가 없을 때까지 그들을 매장하리라.
11 And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.
12 주가 말하노라. 내가 이 장소에, 그곳의 거주자들에게 이와 같이 행하겠으니, 바로 이 도성을 토펫같이 만들겠노라.
12 Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:
13 그리고 예루살렘의 집들과 유다 왕들의 집들이 토펫의 장소같이 더럽혀지리라. 이는 그들이 모든 집들의 그 지붕들 위에서 하늘의 모든 군대에게 향을 태웠고 다른 신들에게 음료 제물들을 쏟아부은 까닭이라.”
13 And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.
14 그때 주께서 예레미야를 보내시어 예언하게 하신 토펫에서 그가 왔더라. 그리고 그는 주의 집의 뜰 안에 섰고 모든 백성에게 이같이 말하였더라.
14 Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD'S house; and said to all the people,
15 “만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 그들이 나의 말들을 듣지 아니하려고 자신들의 고개를 꼿꼿하게 하였기 때문에 나는 이 도성을 대적하여 천명한 모든 해악을 그곳 위와 그녀의 모든 마을들 위에 친히 가져오겠노라.”
15 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.
