1 주께로부터 예레미야에게 임한 말씀이 있었으니, 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2 “주의 집의 대문 안에 서고 이 말들을 거기서 반포하여 이같이 말하라. ‘주를 경배하려고 이 대문들 안으로 입장하는 너희, 유다의 모든 자들아, 주의 말씀을 들으라.
2 Stand in the gate of the LORD'S house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.
3 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 너희의 길들과 너희의 행동거지들을 개선하라. 그리하면 내가 너희를 이곳 안에 거하도록 하겠노라.
3 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
4 ‘이것들은 주의 성전이라, 주의 성전이라, 주의 성전이라.’ 하고 말하는 거짓말들을 너희는 신뢰하지 말라.
4 Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.
5 이는 만일 너희가 너희의 길들과 너희의 행동거지들을 철저하게 개선한다면, 혹 너희가 어떤 사람과 그의 이웃 사이에서 철저하게 공의를 집행한다면,
5 For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;
6 혹 너희가 타국인과 아버지 없는 자와 과부를 압제하지 아니하고 이 장소 안에서 무고한 피를 흘리지 아니하며 너희에게 해를 입히는 다른 신들을 따라 살아가지도 아니한다면,
6 If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:
7 그때 내가 너희를 이 장소 안에, 곧 내가 너희 조상들에게 준 지역 안에 영원무궁토록 거하도록 하겠노라.
7 Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.
8 ¶ 보라, 너희는 유익을 주지 못하는 거짓말들을 신뢰하는도다.
8 ¶ Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.
9 너희가 도둑질하고 살인하며 간음하고 거짓되이 맹세하며 바알에게 향을 태우고, 너희가 모르는 다른 신들을 따라 살아가면서도
9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;
10 나의 이름으로 불리는 이 집에 들어와서 내 앞에 서서 말하기를, ‘우리가 이 모든 가증함들을 행하도록 구출되었나이다.’ 하겠느냐?
10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?
11 나의 이름으로 불리는 이 집이 너희 눈에는 강도들의 소굴이 되었느냐? 보라, 내가 그것을 정확히 목격하였노라. 주가 말하노라.
11 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.
12 그러나 이제 너희는 실로에 있던 나의 처소로 가라. 그 처소는 내가 처음으로 나의 이름을 두었던 장소이니, 나의 백성 이스라엘의 사악함으로 인하여 내가 그곳에 무엇을 하였는지 보라.
12 But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.
13 주가 말하노라. 그런데 이제 너희가 이 모든 일을 행한 까닭에 내가 일찍 일어나 이야기하며 너희에게 말하였으나 너희가 듣지 아니하였도다. 그런즉 나는 너희를 불렀으나 너희는 대답하지 아니하였도다.
13 And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not;
14 그러므로 나는 나의 이름으로 불리는 이 집에, 너희가 신뢰하는 이 집에, 내가 너희와 너희 조상들에게 준 이 장소에 내가 실로에서 한 것같이 행하겠노라.
14 Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.
15 그리고 내가 너희의 모든 형제들, 곧 에프라임의 씨 전체를 쫓아낸 것같이 내가 너희를 나의 목전에서 쫓아내겠노라.
15 And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.
16 그러므로 너는 이 백성을 위하여 기도하지 말라. 그들을 위하여 부르짖음으로도, 기도로도 소리 높이지 말고, 나에게 중보를 올리지도 말라. 이는 내가 너의 말을 들어주지 아니할 것이기 때문이라.
16 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.
17 ¶ 너는 그들이 유다의 도시들 안과 예루살렘의 거리들 안에서 벌이는 짓을 보지 못하느냐?
17 ¶ Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
18 그 자녀들은 목재를 모으고 아버지들은 불을 붙이며 여자들은 그들의 빵 반죽을 만드나니, 하늘의 여왕에게 둥글납작한 빵을 만들어 바치고자 함이요, 다른 신들에게 음료 제물들을 쏟아붓고자 함이라. 이는 그들이 나에게 분노를 일으키고자 함이라.
18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
19 그들이 나에게 분노를 일으키는 것이냐? 주가 말하노라. 그들이 그들 자신의 얼굴에 스스로 혼란을 일으키는 것이 아니냐?
19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?
20 그러므로 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 나의 분노와 나의 노여움이 이 장소 위와 사람 위와 짐승 위와 들의 나무들 위와 토양의 열매 위에 쏟아지리라. 그런즉 그것이 불탈 것이요, 꺼지지 아니하리라.
20 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.
21 ¶ 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 너희 번제물들을 너희의 희생 제물들 위에 두고 고기를 먹으라.
21 ¶ Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.
22 이는 내가 너희 조상들을 이집트 지역에서 데리고 나온 날에는 내가 번제물들과 희생 제물들에 관하여 그들에게 이야기하지 아니하였고, 그들에게 명령하지도 아니하였기 때문이라.
22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:
23 그러나 내가 그들에게 이것을 명령하며 말하기를, ‘나의 음성에 순종하라. 그리하면 나는 너희의 하나님이 되겠고, 너희는 나의 백성이 되리라. 그리고 너희는 내가 너희에게 명령한 모든 길들 가운데 살아가라. 그리하면 너희가 잘되리라.’ 하였노라.
23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
24 그러나 그들이 경청하지 아니하였고, 그들의 귀를 기울이지도 아니하였으며 오히려 그들의 악한 마음에서 나오는 계획들과 상상 가운데 살아가면서 뒤로 물러갔고 앞으로 나아가지 아니하였도다.
24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.
25 너희 조상들이 이집트 지역에서 나온 날 이래 오늘날까지 나는 나의 종들인 모든 예언자들을 너희에게 보내기까지 하였으며, 매일 일찍 일어나서 그들을 보냈노라.
25 Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:
26 그럼에도 그들은 나에게 경청하지 아니하였고 그들의 귀를 기울이지도 아니하였으며 오히려 자신들의 목을 완악하게 하였도다. 그들의 조상들보다 그들이 더 악하게 행하였도다.
26 Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.
27 그러므로 너는 그들에게 이 모든 말들을 전하라. 그러나 그들은 너에게 경청하지 아니하리라. 또한 너는 그들을 부를지니라. 그러나 그들은 너에게 응답하지 아니하리라.
27 Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.
28 그럼에도 너는 그들에게 이같이 말하라. 이 민족은 주 그들의 하나님의 음성에 순종하지 아니하고, 바로잡음을 받아들이지도 아니하는 민족이로다. 진리가 사라졌고 그들의 입에서 끊어졌도다.
28 But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.
29 ¶ 오, 예루살렘아, 너의 머리카락을 잘라내고 그것을 팽개치며 높은 처소들 위에서 애가를 지으라. 이는 주가 그의 진노의 세대를 거절하고 버렸기 때문이라.
29 ¶ Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
30 이는 유다 자녀들이 나의 목전에 악을 행하였기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라. 그들은 나의 이름으로 불리는 집 안에 자신들의 가증한 것들을 세워 그것을 오염시켰도다.
30 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.
31 그런즉 그들은 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기 안에 있는 토펫의 높은 처소들을 건축하였으니, 그들의 아들들과 그들의 딸들을 불속에서 태우고자 함이라. 그것은 내가 그들에게 명령한 것도 아니요, 나의 마음속에 그것을 품지도 아니하였도다.
31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.
32 ¶ 그러므로 주가 말하노라. 보라, 그날들이 오나니, 그것이 더 이상 토펫이라 불리지도, 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기라 불리지도 아니하고, 살육의 골짜기라 불리리라. 이는 그들이 토펫 안에 장소가 전혀 없을 때까지 매장할 것이기 때문이라.
32 ¶ Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.
33 그리고 이 백성의 사체들이 하늘의 날짐승들과 땅의 짐승들을 위한 음식이 되리라. 그리고 그것들을 쫓아 버릴 자가 아무도 없으리라.
33 And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away.
34 그때 나는 희락의 음성과 반가움의 음성과 신랑의 음성과 신부의 음성을 유다의 도시들과 예루살렘의 거리들에서 그치게 하리라. 이는 그 지역이 황량해질 것이기 때문이라.
34 Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.
