1 그때 예루살렘으로부터 온 서기관들과 바리새파 사람들이 예수님께 와서 이같이 말씀드렸더라.
1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 “어찌하여 당신의 제자들은 장로들의 전통을 위반하나이까? 이는 그들이 빵을 먹을 때 그들은 자신들의 손을 씻지 아니하기 때문이니이다.”
2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 그러나 그분께서 그들에게 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “어찌하여 너희 역시도 너희의 전통으로 하나님의 명령을 위반하느냐?
3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 이는 하나님께서 명령하며 말씀하시기를, ‘너의 아버지와 어머니를 공경하라.’ 또 ‘아버지나 어머니를 저주하는 자, 그를 처형할지니라.’ 하셨기 때문이라.
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 그러나 너희는 말하기를, ‘누구든지 자기 아버지나 자기 어머니에게, ‘무엇이든지 저로 말미암아 당신이 유익을 얻게 되는 것은 예물이 되나이다.’라고 말한 후에는
5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 자기 아버지나 자기 어머니를 공경하지 않아도 그는 면제를 받으리라.’ 하는도다. 따라서 너희는 너희의 전통으로 하나님의 명령을 아무 효력이 없게 하였느니라.
6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7 너희, 위선자들아, 이사-야가 너희에 대하여 잘 예언하였도다. 말하기를,
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 ‘이 백성이 그들의 입으로는 나에게 가까이 다가오며 그들의 입술로는 나를 공경하느니라. 그러나 그들의 마음은 나에게서 멀리 있도다.
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 그러나 그들은 사람들의 명령들을 교리들로 가르치면서 나를 헛되이 경배하는도다.’ 한 것이라.”
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10 ¶ 그러고 나서 그분께서 무리를 부르셨으며, 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “듣고 이해하라.
10 ¶ And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11 입안으로 들어가는 것은 사람을 더럽히지 아니하느니라. 그러나 입에서 나오는 것, 이것이 사람을 더럽히느니라.”
11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12 그때 그분의 제자들이 그분께 왔으니, 말씀드리기를, “바리새파 사람들이 이 말씀을 듣고 나서 그들이 실족하게 된 것을 당신께서는 아시나이까?” 하였더라.
12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13 그러나 그분께서 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “나의 하늘 아버지께서 심지 아니하신 모든 초목마다 뿌리 뽑히리라.
13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 그들을 내버려 두라. 그들은 눈먼 자들을 인도하는 눈먼 지도자들이로다. 그런즉 만일 눈먼 자가 눈먼 자를 인도한다면 둘 다 도랑에 빠지리라.”
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15 그때 베드로가 대답하여 그분께 말씀드리기를, “이 비유를 우리에게 분명하게 밝혀 주소서.” 하였더라.
15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 그러자 예수님께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너희 또한 아직도 이해하지 못하느냐?
16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 무엇이든지 입으로 들어가는 것은 뱃속으로 들어가서 뒷간으로 내버려지는 줄 너희가 아직도 이해하지 못하느냐?
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 그러나 입에서 나오는 그러한 말들은 마음에서 나오는 것이라. 그리하여 그것들이 그 사람을 더럽히느니라.
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 이는 마음에서 악한 생각들, 살인들, 간음들, 음행들, 도둑질들, 거짓 증거, 신성 모독들이 나오기 때문이라.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 이것들이 사람을 더럽히는 것들이라. 그러나 씻지 않은 손들로 먹는 것은 사람을 더럽히지 아니하느니라.”
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
21 ¶ 그때 예수님께서 거기를 나가시어 티레와 시돈의 변방들로 떠나셨더라.
21 ¶ Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 그런데 보라, 가나안 여자 한 명이 바로 그 변방들에서 나와서 그분께 소리치며 말씀드리기를, “오, 주여, 다윗의 자손이신 당신이여, 제게 자비를 베푸소서. 제 딸이 한 마귀에게 참혹하게 시달리나이다.” 하였더라.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 그러나 그분께서는 그녀에게 한 말씀도 대답하지 아니하셨더라. 이에 그분의 제자들이 와서 그분께 간청하며 말씀드리기를, “그녀가 우리를 쫓아오며 부르짖으오니, 그녀를 돌려보내소서.” 하였더라.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 그러나 그분께서 대답하여 말씀하시기를, “나는 이스라엘 집의 잃어버린 양들 외에는 다른 데로 보내심을 받지 아니하였노라.” 하셨느니라.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 그때 그녀가 와서 그분께 경배하며 말씀드리기를, “주여, 나를 도우소서.” 하였더라.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 그러나 그분께서 대답하여 말씀하시기를, “자녀들의 빵을 집어 개들에게 그것을 던져 주는 것은 온당하지 아니하니라.” 하셨느니라.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 그러자 그녀가 말씀드리기를, “주여, 사실이니이다. 그럼에도 개들은 자기 주인들의 식탁에서 떨어지는 부스러기들을 먹나이다.” 하였더라.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 그때 예수님께서 그녀에게 대답하여 말씀하시기를, “오, 여자여, 너의 믿음이 대단하도다. 네가 원하는 그대로 그것이 너에게 이루어질지어다.” 하셨느니라. 그러자 정확히 그 시각부터 그녀의 딸이 온전하게 되었더라.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29 그런 다음에 예수님께서 그곳으로부터 떠나시어 갈릴리 바다에 가까이 오셨으며 어떤 산속으로 올라가셔서 거기에 앉으셨더라.
29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30 그러자 수많은 무리들, 곧 절뚝거리는 자들, 눈먼 자들, 말 못 하는 자들, 불구자들, 또 다른 많은 자들을 데리고 그분께 와서 예수님의 두 발 앞에 그들을 던져 놓았더라. 그러자 그분께서 그들을 치유하셨더라.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
31 말하지 못하던 자들이 말하고, 불구였던 자들이 온전해지고, 절뚝거리던 자들이 걷고, 눈멀었던 자들이 보는 것을 그들이 목격하였을 때 그 무리가 경이로워하였으니, 그들이 이스라엘의 하나님께 영광을 돌렸더라.
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 ¶ 그때 예수님께서 자기 제자들을 자신에게로 불러 말씀하시기를, “내가 이 무리에게 연민을 가지고 있노라. 이는 그들이 이제 삼 일간을 계속 나와 함께 있는데 먹을 것이 아무것도 없기 때문이라. 그런즉 나는 그들을 굶겨서 돌려보내지 않겠으니, 그들이 길에서 실신하지 않게 하려 함이라.” 하셨느니라.
32 ¶ Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 그러자 그분의 제자들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “이렇게 엄청난 수의 무리의 배를 채울 만큼 아주 많은 빵을 광야 속 어디에서 우리가 얻어야 하리이까?” 하니라.
33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 그러자 예수님께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “너희가 가진 빵덩이들이 얼마나 되느냐?” 하시니라. 그러자 그들이 말씀드리기를, “일곱 덩이와 작은 물고기들 몇 마리가 있나이다.” 하였더라.
34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 이에 그분께서는 무리에게 땅바닥에 앉으라고 명령하셨더라.
35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 그리고 그분께서 빵 일곱 덩이와 물고기들을 취하시고 감사들을 드리셨으며, 그것들을 찢으시어 자기 제자들에게 주셨으니, 그 제자들이 무리에게 그것을 주었더라.
36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 그러고 나서 그들이 모두 먹었고 배가 채워졌더라. 그런 다음에 쪼개진 음식에서 남은 것을 그들이 일곱 바구니 가득 거두었더라.
37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 그리하여 먹은 자들은 여자들과 아이들 이외에도 남자들만 사천 명이었더라.
38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39 그리고 그분께서는 무리를 돌려보내셨으며, 선박을 잡아 막달라의 변방들로 들어가셨더라.
39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
