1 이는 하늘의 왕국은 자기 포도원으로 인부들을 고용하려고 아침 일찍 나간 집주인인 남자 같기 때문이라.

1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

2 그리하여 그가 인부들과 하루에 일 페니¹¹로 합의를 보았을 때, 그는 자기 포도원으로 그들을 들여보냈더라.

2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

3 그런 다음에 그가 제삼시경에 나갔는데 장터에서 아무 일 없이 서 있는 다른 이들을 보았으며

3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

4 또 그들에게 말하기를, ‘너희 또한 포도원으로 들어가라. 그리하면 무엇이든 정당한 것을 내가 너희에게 주겠노라.’ 하였더라. 그러자 그들이 자신들의 길을 갔더라.

4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

5 또다시 그가 제육시와 제구시경에 나가서 이와 동일하게 하였더라.

5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

6 그런 다음에 제십일시경에도 그가 나가서 아무 일 없이 서 있는 다른 이들을 발견하였고, 그들에게 말하기를, ‘어찌하여 너희는 하루 종일 여기서 아무 일 없이 서 있느냐?’ 하니라.

6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

7 그들이 그에게 말하기를, ‘이는 아무도 우리를 고용하지 않았기 때문이니이다.’ 하니라. 그는 그들에게 말하기를, ‘너희 또한 포도원으로 들어가라. 그리하면 무엇이든 정당한 것을 너희가 받으리라.’ 하니라.

7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

8 그렇게 하여 저녁이 되자 포도원의 소유주가 자기 청지기에게 말하기를, ‘인부들을 불러서 마지막에 온 자들부터 시작하여 처음에 온 자들까지 그들에게 자기 품값을 주라.’ 하니라.

8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

9 그리하여 제십일시경에 고용된 자들이 왔을 때 그들 각 사람이 일 페니씩 받았더라.

9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

10 그러나 처음에 온 자들이 왔을 때 그들은 자신들이 더 받아야 할 것으로 기대하였더라. 그런데 그들은 모든 사람마다 이와 같이 일 페니씩 받았더라.

10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

11 이후에 그들이 그것을 받았을 때 그들은 그 집의 가장을 거슬러 불평하며

11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

12 말하기를, ‘이 마지막에 온 자들은 한 시간만 일하였는데도 당신은 짐과 낮의 열기를 감당한 우리와 그들을 동등하게 대우하셨나이다.’ 하였더라.

12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

13 그러나 그가 그들 중 하나에게 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라. ‘친구여, 나는 너에게 전혀 부당하게 하지 않았노라. 너는 나와 일 페니로 합의를 보지 않았느냐?

13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

14 너의 것을 챙겨서 너의 길을 가라. 나는 이 마지막에 온 자에게도 너에게 준 것과 똑같이 주겠노라.

14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

15 나 자신의 것으로 내 뜻대로 행하는 것이 나에게 합법적이지 아니하냐? 내가 선하다는 이유로 너의 눈이 악한 것이냐?’

15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

16 그러한 이유로 마지막이 된 자들이 처음이 될 것이며, 처음 된 자들이 마지막이 되리라. 이는 부름을 받은 이들은 많으나 선택된 자들은 거의 없기 때문이라.”

16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

17 ¶ 그러자 예수님께서 예루살렘으로 올라가시며 길에서 열두 제자를 따로 데리고 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.

17 ¶ And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,

18 “보라, 우리는 예루살렘으로 올라가노라. 그리하면 인자는 수석 제사장들과 서기관들에게 배반당하리라. 그리고 그들이 그를 정죄하여 죽게 하리라.

18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

19 그리고 이방인들에게 그를 넘겨주어 조롱하고 채찍질하며 그를 십자가에 못 박게 하리라. 그런 다음에 셋째 날에 그가 다시 살아나리라.”

19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

20 ¶ 그때 세배대의 자녀들의 어머니가 자기 아들들과 더불어 그분께 나아왔고 그분께 경배하며 그분께로부터 어떤 한 가지를 간절히 바랐더라.

20 ¶ Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

21 그러자 그분께서 그녀에게 말씀하시기를, “네가 무엇을 원하느냐?” 하셨느니라. 그녀가 그분께 말씀드리기를, “저의 이 두 아들이 당신의 왕국에서 한 명은 당신의 오른편에 앉고 다른 한 명은 왼편에 앉도록 허락하여 주소서.” 하니라.

21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

22 그러나 예수님께서 대답하여 말씀하시기를, “너희는 너희가 구하는 것을 모르는도다. 내가 마실 그 잔을 너희가 마실 수 있겠느냐? 또한 내가 침례받는 그 침례로 침례받을 수 있겠느냐?” 하셨느니라. 그들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “우리가 할 수 있나이다.” 하니라.

22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

23 그러자 그분께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “너희가 정녕 내 잔을 마실 것이요, 내가 침례받는 그 침례로 침례받으리라. 그러나 나의 오른편과 나의 왼편에 앉는 것은 내가 줄 것이 아니요, 오직 그것은 나의 아버지께로부터 예비된 자들을 위하여 그들에게 주어지리라.” 하시니라.

23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

24 이에 그 열 명이 그것을 듣자 그들은 두 형제를 거슬러 격분하게 되었더라.

24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.

25 그러나 예수님께서 그들을 자신에게로 부르셨고 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “이방인들의 통치자들이 그들 위에 지배력을 행사하는 것과 지위가 높은 자들이 그들 위에 권위를 행사하는 것을 너희는 아느니라.

25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

26 그러나 너희 가운데서는 그리하지 말지니라. 오히려 누구든지 너희 가운데서 위대하게 되고자 하는 자는 너희를 섬기는 자가 될지어다.

26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27 그리고 너희 가운데서 누구든지 으뜸이 되고자 하면 그는 너희의 종이 될지니라.

27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

28 이와 같이 인자도 섬김을 받으러 온 것이 아니라 오히려 섬기러 왔고 많은 이들을 위하여 자신의 생명을 하나의 속량 값으로 주려고 왔느니라.”

28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

29 이후에 그들이 예리코에서 떠나는 동안 수많은 무리가 그분을 따랐더라.

29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

30 ¶ 그리고 보라, 두 명의 눈먼 남자들이 길가에 앉아 있었는데 예수님께서 지나가신다는 것을 그들이 듣자 소리지르며 말씀드리기를, “오, 주여, 다윗의 자손이신 당신이여, 우리에게 자비를 베푸소서.” 하였더라.

30 ¶ And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

31 그러자 그 무리가 그들을 꾸짖었으니, 그들로 하여금 자신들의 침묵을 지키게 하려는 까닭이었더라. 그러나 그들은 더욱 소리치며 말씀드리기를, “오, 주여, 다윗의 자손이신 당신이여, 우리에게 자비를 베푸소서.” 하였더라.

31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

32 이에 예수님께서 가만히 서시어 그들을 부르셨으며 말씀하시기를, “너희는 내가 너희에게 무엇을 해 주기를 바라느냐?” 하셨느니라.

32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?

33 그들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “주여, 우리의 눈이 열리기를 바라나이다.” 하니라.

33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

34 그러한 이유로 예수님께서 그들에게 연민을 가지셨으며 그들의 눈을 만져 주셨더라. 그러자 즉시 그들의 눈이 시력을 받았고 그들이 그분을 따랐더라.

34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
