1 그때 하늘의 왕국은 자신들의 등불들을 가지고 신랑을 맞이하러 나간 열 처녀에 비유되느니라.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2 그리고 그들 중 다섯은 지혜로웠으며 다섯은 어리석었느니라.

And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 어리석은 자들은 자신들의 등불들을 가져갔는데 그것들과 함께 기름을 전혀 가져가지 않았느니라.

They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 그러나 지혜로운 자들은 그들의 등불들과 함께 기름을 자신들의 그릇들 안에 가져갔느니라.

But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 신랑이 지체하는 동안 그들 모두가 졸다가 잠이 들었느니라.

While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 그런데 한밤중에 외치는 소리가 났으니, ‘보라, 신랑이 오시는도다. 너희는 그분을 맞이하러 나가라.’ 하니라.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

7 그때 그 처녀들이 전부 일어나서 자신들의 등불들을 손보았는데

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 어리석은 자들이 지혜로운 자들에게 말하기를, ‘너희의 기름에서 얼마를 우리에게 달라. 이는 우리의 등불들이 꺼졌기 때문이라.’ 하였느니라.

And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

9 그러나 지혜로운 자들이 대답하며 말하기를, ‘그렇게는 아니 되노라. 우리와 너희에게 충분하지 아니할까 함이니, 다만 너희는 차라리 파는 자들에게 가서 너희 자신을 위하여 기름을 사라.’ 하였느니라.

But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 그런데 그들이 사러 간 동안에 신랑이 왔더라. 그리고 준비한 자들은 그와 함께 혼인 잔치로 들어갔으며 문은 닫혔도다.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 그런 뒤에 다른 처녀들 역시 와서 말하기를, ‘주여, 주여, 우리에게 문을 열어 주소서.’ 하였느니라.

Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 그러나 그가 대답하여 말하기를, ‘진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘나는 너희를 알지 아니하노라.’’ 하였느니라.

But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 그러므로 깨어 있으라. 이는 인자가 오는 그날도 그 시각도 너희는 모르기 때문이라.

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

14 ¶ 그러므로 하늘의 왕국은 먼 나라로 여행하면서 자기 자신의 종들을 불러 그들에게 자신의 소유물들을 넘겨준 남자와 같으니라.

¶ For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 그런데 그가 한 명에게는 오 달란트를, 또 다른 이에게는 이 달란트를, 또 다른 이에게는 일 달란트를 주었으니, 각 사람에게 그의 개별적인 재능에 따라 주었더라. 그러고 나서 즉각 자신의 여정을 떠났더라.

And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16 그때 오 달란트 받은 자는 가서 동일한 것으로 무역하여 그것들로 또 다른 오 달란트를 만들었으며

Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 마찬가지로 이 달란트 받은 자, 그 역시도 또 다른 이 달란트를 벌었더라.

And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 그러나 일 달란트를 받은 자는 가서 땅속을 파내어 자기 소유주의 돈을 숨겼더라.

But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

19 오랜 시간 뒤에 그 종들의 소유주가 와서 그들과 계산하니라.

After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 곧이어 오 달란트 받은 자가 와서 또 다른 오 달란트를 가지고 오며 말하기를, ‘주여, 당신께서 제게 오 달란트를 넘겨주셨나이다. 보소서, 제가 그것들을 제외하고도 오 달란트를 더 벌었나이다.’ 하였느니라.

And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 그의 소유주는 그에게 말하기를, ‘잘하였도다. 너 착하고 신실한 종아, 네가 적은 것들에 신실하였으니, 내가 너를 많은 것들을 다스릴 치리자로 삼겠노라. 너는 너의 소유주의 즐거움에 참여하라.’ 하였느니라.

His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 이 달란트 받은 자 역시 왔으며 말하기를, ‘주여, 당신께서 제게 이 달란트를 넘겨주셨나이다. 보소서, 제가 그것들을 제외하고도 또 다른 이 달란트를 벌었나이다.’ 하였느니라.

He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23 그의 소유주가 그에게 말하기를, ‘잘하였도다. 착하고 신실한 종아, 네가 적은 것들에 신실하였으니, 내가 너를 많은 것들을 다스릴 치리자로 삼겠노라. 너는 너의 소유주의 즐거움에 참여하라.’ 하였느니라.

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24 다음으로 일 달란트 받은 자가 와서 이같이 말하였더라. ‘주여, 저는 당신께서 엄격한 사람이셔서 당신께서 뿌리지 않은 데서 거두시고, 당신께서 흩뿌리지 않은 데서 모으시는 분으로 당신에 대해 알았나이다.

Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 이에 저는 무서워하여 가서 당신의 달란트를 땅에 숨겼나이다. 보소서, 당신께서는 거기에 있는 당신의 것을 가지소서.’

And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 그의 소유주가 그에게 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라. ‘너, 사악하고 게으른 종아, 너는 내가 뿌리지 않은 데서 내가 거두고, 내가 흩뿌리지 않은 데서 모으는 줄 알았으므로

His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 너는 마땅히 나의 돈을 환전상들에게 맡겨야 했도다. 그리하여 내가 올 그때 나로 하여금 나의 소유를 이자와 함께 받도록 하여야 했도다.

Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 그러므로 그에게서 그 달란트를 취하여 그것을 십 달란트를 가진 자에게 주라.

Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 이는 가지고 있는 모든 이에게 저마다 주어질 것이요, 그는 풍요를 누릴 것이기 때문이라. 그러나 가지고 있지 않은 자에게서는 그가 가진 것마저도 빼앗기리라.’

For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 그런즉 너희는 그 무익한 종을 바깥 어둠 속으로 던지라. 거기에는 울며 이를 가는 일이 있으리라.

And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

31인자가 그의 영광 중에 올 때, 곧 모든 거룩한 천사들이 그와 함께 올 그때에 그가 자신의 영광의 보좌 위에 앉으리라.

¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 그리하면 그 앞에서 모든 민족들이 모이리라. 그리고 그가 그들을 서로 분리시키리니, 마치 어떤 목자가 자기 양들을 염소들로부터 나누는 것과 같으니라.

And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 그런즉 그가 양들은 자기 오른편에 둘 것이나 염소들은 왼편에 두리라.

And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 그때 왕이 자기 오른편에 있는 자들에게 이같이 말하니라. ‘나의 아버지의 복을 받은 너희들아, 와서 세상의 기초가 세워진 이래로 너희를 위하여 예비된 그 왕국을 상속받으라.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 이는 내가 굶주렸으나 너희는 나에게 음식을 주었고, 내가 목이 말랐으나 너희는 나에게 마실 것을 주었으며, 내가 타국인이었으나 너희는 나를 안으로 들였고,

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 헐벗었으나 너희는 나에게 옷을 입혔으며, 내가 병들었으나 너희는 나를 방문했고, 내가 감옥에 있었으나 너희는 나에게 찾아왔기 때문이라.’

Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 그때 그 의로운 자들이 그분께 대답하며 이렇게 말씀드리리라. ‘주여, 언제 우리가 당신께서 굶주리신 것을 보았기에 당신을 먹였나이까? 아니면 언제 우리가 당신께서 목마르신 것을 보았기에 당신께 마실 것을 드렸나이까?

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 언제 우리가 당신께서 타국인이신 것을 보았기에 당신을 안으로 들였나이까? 아니면 언제 헐벗으신 것을 보았기에 당신께 옷을 입혀 드렸나이까?

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 아니면 언제 우리가 당신께서 병드신 것이나 감옥에 계신 것을 보았기에 당신께 찾아왔나이까?’

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 그리하면 왕이 그들에게 대답하여 이같이 말하리라. ‘진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘너희가 나의 이 형제들 중 가장 작은 자 한 명에게 그것을 행하여 온 것 만큼 너희는 그것을 나에게 행하여 온 것이라.’’

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 그때 그가 왼편에 있는 자들에게도 이같이 말하리라. ‘너희, 저주를 받은 자들아, 나에게서 떠나 마귀와 그의 천사들을 위하여 예비된 영원한 불속으로 들어가라.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 이는 내가 굶주렸으나 너희는 나에게 음식을 주지 않았고, 내가 목말랐으나 너희는 나에게 마실 것을 주지 않았으며,

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 내가 타국인이었으나 너희는 나를 안으로 들이지 않았고, 헐벗었으나 너희는 나에게 옷을 입히지 않았으며, 병들었고 감옥에 있었으나 너희는 나를 방문하지 않았기 때문이라.’

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 그때 그들 역시 그분께 대답하며 말씀드리기를, ‘주여, 언제 우리가 당신께서 굶주리신 것이나, 목마르신 것이나, 타국인이신 것이나, 헐벗으신 것이나, 병드신 것이나, 감옥에 계신 것을 보았기에 당신을 섬기지 아니하였나이까?’ 하리라.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 그때 그가 그들에게 대답하며 말하기를, ‘진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘너희가 이들 중 가장 작은 자 한 명에게 그것을 행하지 않은 것만큼 너희는 그것을 나에게 행하지 않은 것이라.’’ 하리라.

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 그리하여 이들은 영원한 형벌 속으로 들어갈 것이나, 의로운 자들은 영존하는 생명 속으로 들어가리라.”

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
