1 아사의 통치 제삼십육년에 이스라엘의 바아샤왕이 유다를 대적하여 올라왔고, 라마흐를 건축하였으니, 그가 유다의 아사왕에게 나가거나 들어오는 자가 아무도 없게 하려는 의도였더라.
1 In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
2 그때 아사가 주의 집의 보물 창고들에서, 또 왕의 집에서 은과 금을 꺼냈고, 다마스쿠스에서 거하던, 시리아 왕 벤하닷에게 보내며 이같이 말하였더라.
2 Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent to Benhadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
3 “나와 당신 사이에는, 마치 나의 아버지와 당신의 아버지 사이에 있었듯이 한 맹약이 있나이다. 보소서, 내가 당신에게 은과 금을 보냈나이다. 가셔서 이스라엘 왕 바아샤와 맺은 당신의 맹약을 깨시어 그가 나에게서 떠나게 하소서.”
3 There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
4 그러자 벤하닷이 아사왕에게 경청하였고 이스라엘의 도시들을 대적하여 그의 군대들의 대장들을 보냈더라. 이에 그들이 이욘과 단과 아벨마임과, 납탈리의 모든 저장 도시들을 쳤더라.
4 And Benhadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abelmaim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.
5 그러자 바아샤가 그것을 들었을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 라마흐를 건축하는 것을 중지하였고 그의 일을 중단시켰더라.
5 And it came to pass, when Baasha heard it, that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.
6 그때 아사왕이 온 유다를 동원하였고 그들이 바아샤가 건축하고 있었던 라마흐의 돌들과 그것의 재목을 실어 날랐더라. 그리하여 그가 그것으로 그바와 미즈파를 건축하였더라.
6 Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha was building; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.
7 ¶ 그러자 그때에 선견자 하나니가 유다 왕 아사에게 왔고 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “당신께서 시리아 왕을 의지하고 주 당신의 하나님을 의지하지 아니하였으므로 시리아 왕의 군대가 당신의 손에서 벗어났나이다.
7 ¶ And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.
8 에티오피아인들과 루빔 사람들은 아주 많은 병거들과 기병들로 막대한 군대가 아니었나이까? 그럼에도 당신이 주를 의지한 까닭에 그분께서 그들을 당신의 손안에 넘기셨나이다.
8 Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand.
9 이는 주의 눈들이 온 땅을 두루 다니며 이리저리 달리기 때문이니, 자신을 향하여 그의 마음이 완전한 자들을 위해 자신의 강함을 보이시기 위함이니이다. 이 점에서 당신께서 어리석게 행하신 것이니이다. 그러므로 앞으로는 당신에게 전쟁들이 있으리이다.”
9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
10 그때 아사가 그 선견자에게 진노하였고 그를 감옥 안에 넣었더라. 이는 그가 이 일로 인하여 그에게 분개하였기 때문이라. 그리고 아사가 같은 시기에 백성 중 일부를 압제하였더라.
10 Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.
11 ¶ 그런즉 보라, 아사의 행적들의 처음과 마지막인 그것들이, 보라, 이스라엘과 유다 왕들의 책 안에 기록되어 있느니라.
11 ¶ And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
12 그리고 아사는 그의 통치 제삼십구년에 그의 두 발에 질병이 생겨 마침내 그의 질병이 지극히 위독하게 되었더라. 그럼에도 그가 자신의 질병 가운데 주께 구하지 아니하였고 의사들에게만 구하였더라.
12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.
13 ¶ 이후에 아사가 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들었고 그의 통치 제사십일년에 죽었더라.
13 ¶ And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.
14 그리고 그들이 그를 그의 소유의 돌무덤들 안에다 장사하였으니, 그 돌무덤들은 그가 다윗의 도시 안에다 자신을 위하여 만들어 둔 곳들이었더라. 그리고 감미로운 향품들과 약제사들의 조제술로 예비된 다양한 종류들의 향료들로 채워진 침상 안에 그를 뉘었더라. 그리고 그들이 그를 위하여 아주 성대하게 향을 태웠더라.
14 And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries' art: and they made a very great burning for him.
