1 이제 여호샤팟이 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들었고 다윗의 도시 안에서 그의 조상들과 함께 장사되었더라. 그리고 그의 아들 여호람이 그를 대신하여 통치하였더라.
1 Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
2 그리고 그에게는 여호샤팟의 아들들인 형제들, 곧 아자리야와 여히엘과 스가랴와 아자리야와 미카엘과 셰파티야가 있었더라. 이들 모두가 이스라엘 왕 여호샤팟의 아들들이었더라.
2 And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
3 그리고 그들의 아버지는 그들에게 은과 금과 귀한 것들로 된 엄청난 선물들을 주었는데, 유다에 있는 방비가 강화된 도시들을 함께 주었더라. 그러나 왕국은 그가 여호람에게 주었으니, 그가 첫 태생이었기 때문이라.
3 And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.
4 이제 여호람이 그의 아버지의 왕국에 세워졌을 때 그가 스스로 힘을 길렀고 그의 모든 형제들을 칼로 쳤으며 이스라엘 통치자들 중 여럿도 그리하였더라.
4 Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.
5 ¶ 여호람이 통치하기 시작하였을 때 그가 삼십이 세였으니, 그가 예루살렘에서 팔 년 동안 통치하였더라.
5 ¶ Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
6 그리고 그는 아합의 집이 행한 대로 이스라엘 왕들의 길 가운데 살아갔더라. 이는 그가 아합의 딸을 아내로 두었기 때문이라. 또 그가 주의 눈들에 악한 것을 행하였더라.
6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.
7 하지만 주께서 다윗의 집을 멸하려고 하지 아니하셨으니, 그분께서 다윗과 맺으신 언약 때문이요, 그분께서 그와 그의 아들들에게 영원토록 빛을 주시기로 약속하셨기 때문이더라.
7 Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
8 ¶ 그의 날들에 에돔족들이 유다의 통치권 아래에서 반란을 일으켰고 스스로 왕을 세웠더라.
8 ¶ In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.
9 그때 여호람이 그의 통치자들과 그의 곁에 있는 그의 모든 병거들과 함께 나아갔더라. 그런즉 그가 밤에 일어나 그를 둘러싼 에돔족들을 쳤고 병거들의 대장들을 쳤더라.
9 Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.
10 그렇게 하여 에돔족들이 유다의 손 아래에서 반란을 일으켰으니, 오늘날까지 이르니라. 같은 시기에 립나 또한 그의 수하에서 반란을 일으켰더라. 이는 그가 그의 조상들의 주 하나님을 저버린 까닭이라.
10 So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.
11 이뿐만 아니라 그가 유다의 산들 속에다 높은 처소들을 만들어서 예루살렘의 거주자들이 음행하게 만들었으니, 유다가 그렇게 하도록 강제로 시켰더라.
11 Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.
12 ¶ 그리고 예언자 엘리야에게서 그에게 이와 같은 말로 글이 왔더라. “너의 조상 다윗의 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. ‘이는 네가 너의 아버지 여호샤팟의 길들 가운데 살아가지 아니하고 유다 왕 아사의 길들 가운데 살아가지도 아니하며,
12 ¶ And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
13 오히려 이스라엘 왕들의 길 가운데 살아가고 유다와 예루살렘 거주자들로 하여금 아합의 집의 행음들 같이 행음하러 다니게 만들었고, 또한 너의 아버지의 가문에 속한, 너 자신보다 더 선한 너의 형제들을 살해하였기 때문이라.
13 But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, which were better than thyself:
14 보라, 주가 너의 백성과 너의 자식들과 너의 아내들과 너의 모든 소유물들을 엄청난 재앙으로 치겠노라.
14 Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:
15 그리고 너는 너의 창자의 질병에 의하여 심한 병을 앓으리니, 나날이 그 병 때문에 너의 창자가 빠져나올 때까지 그러하리라.’”
15 And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.
16 ¶ 이뿐만 아니라 주께서 필리스티아인들의 영과 에티오피아인들과 가까이 있었던 아라비아인들의 영을 여호람을 대적하여 격동시키셨더라.
16 ¶ Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:
17 그런즉 그들이 유다 안으로 올라왔고 그 안으로 침입하였으며 왕의 집 안에서 발견된 모든 재물과 또한 그의 아들들과 그의 아내들도 실어 갔더라. 그렇기에 그의 아들들 중 막내 여호아하즈를 제외하고 그에게 아들이 결코 하나도 남아 있지 아니하였더라.
17 And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
18 ¶ 그리고 이 모든 일이 있은 후에 주께서 그의 창자 안에 불치병으로 그를 치셨더라.
18 ¶ And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
19 이후에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 시간이 경과하여 이 년이 지난 후에 그의 창자가 그의 병 때문에 빠져나왔더라. 그렇게 하여 그가 심한 질병들로 죽었더라. 그리고 그의 백성은 그를 위하여 향을 전혀 태우지 아니하였으니, 그의 조상들을 위해 향을 태우는 것처럼 하지 아니하였더라.
19 And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.
20 그가 통치하기 시작하였을 때 그는 삼십이 세였고 그가 예루살렘에서 팔 년 동안 통치하였으나 흠모받지 못한 채 떠났더라. 그럼에도 그들이 그를 다윗의 도시 안에 장사하였으나 왕들의 돌무덤들 안에 장사하지는 아니하였더라.
20 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
