1 이집트에 대한 엄중한 부담이라. 보라, 주가 빠른 구름을 타고 이집트로 들어오리라. 그리하면 이집트의 우상들이 그의 면전에서 동요할 것이요, 이집트의 마음이 그곳의 중심에서 녹아내리리라.

The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

2 그리고 내가 이집트인들이 이집트인들을 대적하게 하겠노라. 그리하면 그들이 모두 저마다 자기 형제를 대적하여 싸우고, 모두 저마다 자기 이웃을 대적하여 싸우리라. 도시가 도시를 대적하고 왕국이 왕국을 대적하리라.

And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.

3 그리하여 이집트의 영이 그곳의 중심에서 쇠하리라. 또 나는 이집트의 계책을 무너뜨리겠노라. 그리하면 그들은 우상들에게와 주술사들에게와 부리는 영들을 지닌 자들에게와 요술사들에게 구하리라.

And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

4 그리고 내가 이집트인들을 어떤 잔인한 군주의 손안에 넘겨주리라. 그리하면 어떤 사나운 왕이 그들을 다스리리라. 주, 곧 만군의 주가 말하노라.

And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

5 그리고 물들이 바다에서 소실될 것이요, 강은 황폐해져서 말라 버리리라.

And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.

6 또한 그들이 강들을 멀리 떨어진 곳으로 돌리리라. 그리고 방어를 위한 시내들이 비워지고 말라 버리리라. 갈대들과 붓꽃들도 시들리라.

And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.

7 시냇가들과 시내들의 어귀에 있는 종이 갈대들과, 시냇가들에 뿌려진 모든 것마다 시들고 내몰려 더 이상 존재하지 아니하리라.

The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.

8 어부들도 애곡할 것이요, 시내들에 낚시를 던지는 모든 자들은 애통할 것이요, 물들 위에 그물들을 펼치는 자들이 쇠약해지리라.

The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.

9 이뿐만 아니라 정제된 아마풀로 작업하는 자들과 망들을 엮어 짜는 자들이 당혹스러워하리라.

Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded.

10 그리고 그곳의 목적들 가운데 그들은 부서지리니, 곧 물고기를 얻으려고 수문들과 연못들을 만드는 자들 모두가 그러하리라.

And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.

11 ¶ 확실히 조안의 통치자들은 어리석은 자들이요, 파라오의 지혜로운 조언자들의 조언도 야만스러워지는도다. 어떻게 너희가 파라오에게 말하기를, “나는 지혜로운 자들의 자손이요, 고대 왕들의 자손이라.” 하느냐?

¶ Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?

12 그들이 어디 있느냐? 너의 지혜로운 사람들이 어디 있느냐? 그런즉 그들로 하여금 지금 너에게 말하게 하라. 또 그들로 하여금 만군의 주가 이집트에 대해 무엇을 목적하셨는지 알게 하라.

Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.

13 조안의 통치자들이 어리석은 자들이 되었고, 놉흐의 통치자들은 속았도다. 그들은 또한 이집트를 미혹하였으니, 바로 그곳의 지파들의 버팀목이었던 자들이로다.

The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.

14 주가 그곳의 한가운데에 비뚤어진 영을 섞었도다. 그리고 그들이 이집트로 하여금 그곳의 모든 일마다 잘못을 범하게 하였으니, 마치 술 취한 사람이 그의 토사물 가운데서 휘청거리는 것 같도다.

The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.

15 또한 이집트를 위해서는 머리나 꼬리가, 가지나 골풀이 할 수 있는 어떤 일도 없으리라.

Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.

16 그날에 이집트는 여인네들 같으리라. 그리하여 그가 그곳 위에 흔드는 만군의 주의 손을 흔드심으로 인하여 그곳이 무서워하고 두려워하리라.

In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

17 그리고 유다 지역은 이집트에게 공포가 될 것이요, 유다에 관하여 거론하는 모든 자마다 자기 속으로 무서워하리니, 만군의 주의 계획, 곧 그가 이집트를 대적하여 결정한 것 때문이라.

And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.

18 ¶ 그날에 이집트 지역의 다섯 도시들이 가나안의 언어를 말하며 만군의 주께 맹세하리라. 하나는 “멸망의 도시”라 불리리라.

¶ In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

19 그날에 이집트 지역 한복판에 주를 위한 제단이 있을 것이요, 그곳의 경계에 주를 위한 기둥이 있으리라.

In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.

20 그리고 그것이 이집트 지역에서 만군의 주께 표적과 증거가 되리라. 이는 그들이 압제자로 인하여 주께 부르짖으며, 그가 구원자이자 위대한 이를 그들에게 보내어 그가 그들을 구출할 것이기 때문이라.

And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.

21 그리하여 주가 이집트에서 알려질 것이요, 그날에 이집트인들이 주를 알고 희생 제물과 헌납물을 드리리라. 진정 그들이 서원으로 주께 서원하고 그것을 이행하리라.

And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.

22 그리고 주가 이집트를 치리라. 그가 그것을 치고는 치유하리라. 그리하면 그들이 바로 주께 되돌아오리니, 그가 그들에게 간절한 요청을 받고 그들을 치유하리라.

And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.

23 ¶ 그날에 이집트에서부터 아시리아까지 대로가 있으리라. 그리하여 아시리아인은 이집트로 들어오고 이집트인은 아시리아로 들어오리니, 이집트인들이 아시리아인들과 함께 섬기리라.

¶ In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.

24 그날에 이스라엘은 이집트와 아시리아와 함께 셋째가 되리니, 실로 그 지역의 한가운데서 복이 되리라.

In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:

25 만군의 주가 그들에게 복을 주며 말하기를, “나의 백성인 이집트와, 내 손의 업적인 아시리아와, 나의 상속 이스라엘이 복을 받기를 바라노라.” 하리라.

Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
