1 벨은 아래로 숙이고 느보는 허리를 굽히는도다. 그들의 우상들이 짐승들 위와 가축들 위에 있도다. 너희의 적재물들이 무겁게 실려 있도다. 그것들은 지친 짐승에게 짐이로다.

1 Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages were heavy loaden; they are a burden to the weary beast.

2 그들이 허리를 굽히나니, 그들은 다 함께 아래로 숙이는도다. 그들은 그 짐을 구해 낼 수 없나니, 오히려 그들 자신이 포로로 잡혀가는도다.

2 They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.

3 ¶ 오, 야곱의 집이요, 이스라엘 집에서 남은 모든 자들아, 나에게 경청하라. 너희는 배에서부터 나에게 품긴 자들이요, 태에서부터 안겨서 옮겨진 자들이라.

3 ¶ Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:

4 그런즉 너희가 노년에 이를 때조차 나는 그니라. 그리고 너희가 흰머리가 될 때조차 나는 너희를 안아서 옮기겠노라. 내가 만들었으니, 내가 품겠노라. 바로 내가 안아서 옮기겠고, 너희를 구해 내겠노라.

4 And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

5 ¶ 너희는 누구에게 나를 견줄 것이며, 누구를 나와 동등하게 만들겠고, 누구와 나를 비교하여 우리를 같게 하겠느냐?

5 ¶ To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?

6 그들이 가방에서 금을 아낌없이 내어주고, 저울에다 은을 달아 주며, 어느 금 세공사를 고용하였도다. 그러자 그가 그것으로 신을 만드는도다. 그들이 엎드리나니, 진정 그들이 경배하는도다.

6 They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.

7 그들이 그를 어깨에 짊어지고 그들이 그를 옮기고 그를 그의 위치에 세웠더니, 그가 서 있더라. 그의 위치에서 그는 움직이지 못하리라. 진정 누군가 그에게 부르짖을 것이나 그럼에도 그는 응답할 수 없을 것이요, 그의 곤경에서 그를 구원할 수도 없느니라.

7 They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.

8 이것을 기억하라. 그리고 너희 스스로 남자들임을 보이라. 오, 너희, 불법자들아, 그것을 다시 생각나게 하라.

8 Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.

9 예로부터 나온 이전 것들을 기억하라. 이는 내가 하나님이요, 다른 이가 아무도 없기 때문이라. 나는 하나님이요, 나와 같은 이는 아무도 없나니,

9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

10 나는 시작부터 끝을 선언하고, 아직 이루어지지 아니한 일들을 먼 옛적들부터 선언하며 이같이 말하노라. “나의 계획이 설 것이요, 나는 내가 기뻐하는 모든 것을 행하겠으니,

10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

11 동쪽에서부터 탐욕스럽게 삼키는 새, 곧 나의 계획을 집행하는 사람을 먼 나라로부터 부를 것이라. 진정 내가 그것을 말하였으니, 내가 또한 그것을 이루겠노라. 내가 그것을 결심하였으니, 내가 또한 그것을 실행하겠노라.”

11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

12 ¶ 의로부터 멀리 있고 완강한 마음이 된 너희여, 나에게 경청하라.

12 ¶ Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that are far from righteousness:

13 내가 나의 의를 가까이 가져오나니, 그것이 멀리 떨어져 있지 아니할 것이요, 나의 구원은 지체하지 아니하리라. 그리고 내가 나의 영광 이스라엘을 위하여 구원을 시온에 두겠노라.

13 I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
