1 교만의 왕관에게, 에프라임의 술주정뱅이들에게 화가 있기를 바라노라! 그들의 영광스러운 아름다움은 시들어 가는 꽃이며, 그들은 포도주에 만취된 자들의 비옥한 골짜기들의 머리 위에 있느니라.
1 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!
2 보라, 주께서는 막강하고 강한 이를 소유하고 계시나니, 마치 우박을 일으키는 광풍과 파괴시키는 폭풍같이, 막강한 물들이 범람하는 홍수같이 손으로 그것을 땅에다 던지시리라.
2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.
3 교만의 왕관, 곧 에프라임의 술주정뱅이들이 발들 아래에서 밟히리라.
3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:
4 그리하면 비옥한 골짜기의 머리 위에 있는 영광스러운 아름다움은 시들어 가는 꽃이 될 것이요, 여름이 되기도 전에 설익은 과일과 같으리라. 그것을 바라보는 자가 쳐다볼 때 그가 아직 그것이 자기 손에 있는 동안 그것을 다 먹어 버리는도다.
4 And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.
5 ¶ 그날에 만군의 주께서 그분의 백성의 남아 있는 자들에게 영광의 왕관과 아름다움의 보관이 되시리라.
5 ¶ In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
6 그리고 재판하려고 앉아 있는 자에게 공의의 영이 되실 것이요, 전투를 돌이켜 성문에 이르게 하는 자들에게 힘이 되시리라.
6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.
7 ¶ 그러나 그들도 또한 포도주로 인해 잘못을 범하였고, 독주로 인해 길에서 벗어나는도다. 제사장과 예언자는 독주로 인해 잘못을 저질렀고, 그들은 포도주에 삼켜지며, 그들은 독주로 인해 길에서 벗어나는도다. 그들은 현시에 있어서 잘못을 저지르고, 그들은 재판에 있어서 걸려 넘어지는도다.
7 ¶ But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
8 이는 모든 식탁들이 토사물과 더러운 것으로 가득 차서, 거기에는 정결한 곳이 전혀 없기 때문이라.
8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.
9 ¶ 그분께서 누구에게 지식을 가르치시겠느냐? 또 그분께서 누구에게 교리를 이해시키시겠느냐? 젖을 떼고 젖가슴에서 물러난 자들에게니라.
9 ¶ Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 이는 반드시 규범 위에 규범이 있어야 하고, 규범 위에 규범이 있어야 하며, 어구 위에 어구가 있어야 하고, 어구 위에 어구가 있어야 하며, 여기에 조금, 저기에 조금 있어야 하기 때문이라.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 이는 그분께서 더듬는 입술과 또 다른 방언으로 이 백성에게 말씀하실 것이기 때문이라.
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
12 그분께서 이 백성에게 말씀하시기를, “이것은 너희가 지친 자를 쉬게 할 수 있는 쉼이니라. 또 이것은 활기차게 하는 것이니라.” 하셨도다. 그럼에도 그들은 들으려 하지 아니하였도다.
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
13 그러나 주의 말씀이 그들 위에 임하셨으니, 규범 위에 규범이 있고, 규범 위에 규범이 있으며, 어구 위에 어구가 있고, 어구 위에 어구가 있으며, 여기에 조금, 저기에 조금 있었도다. 이는 그들이 가다가 뒤로 쓰러져서 부러지고 올무에 걸려 붙잡히게 하려 함이라.
13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
14 ¶ 이러한 이유로, 너희, 경멸하는 사람들아, 예루살렘 안에 있는 이 백성을 다스리는 자들아, 주의 말씀을 들으라.
14 ¶ Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 이는 너희가 이같이 말하였기 때문이니, “우리가 사망과 언약을 맺었고 지옥과 우리가 협정을 맺었도다. 넘치는 채찍질이 통과하여 지나갈 그때, 그것이 우리에게 닥치지 아니하리라. 이는 우리가 거짓말들을 우리의 피난처로 삼았으며 날조된 것 아래에 우리가 우리 자신을 숨겼기 때문이라.” 하였도다.
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 ¶ 그러므로 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 한 돌을 시온에 기초로 놓았나니, 시험받은 돌이요, 보배로운 모퉁잇돌이요, 견고한 기초로다. 믿는 자는 다급해하지 아니하리라.
16 ¶ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 또한 내가 측량줄에 공의를 놓고, 다림추에 의를 놓으리라. 그리하면 우박이 거짓말들의 피난처를 휩쓸어 버릴 것이요, 물들이 그 은신처에 넘쳐흐르리라.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 ¶ 그리하여 사망과 맺은 너희의 언약이 무효화될 것이요, 지옥과 맺은 너희의 협정이 서지 못하리라. 넘치는 채찍질이 통과하여 지나갈 그때, 너희는 그것에 의하여 짓밟히리라.
18 ¶ And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 그것이 나아가는 때부터 그것이 너희를 붙잡으리라. 이는 아침마다 그것이 지나다닐 것이요, 낮에도, 밤에도 그러할 것이기 때문이라. 그런즉 그 이야기를 알아듣는 것만으로도 번민이 되리라.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.
20 이는 사람이 그 위에서 자기 몸을 펼 수 있는 것보다 그 침상이 더 짧기 때문이요, 그가 그 속에서 자기 몸을 감쌀 수 있는 것보다 그 이불이 더 좁기 때문이라.
20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
21 이는 프라짐산 속에서와 같이 주께서 일어나시고, 기브온 골짜기 안에서와 같이 그분께서 진노하실 것이기 때문이라. 이는 그분의 역사, 즉 그분의 비상한 역사를 친히 실행하시고자 함이요, 그분의 행적, 즉 그분의 비상한 행적을 이루시고자 함이라.
21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
22 그러므로 이제 너희는 조롱자들이 되지 말지니, 너희의 포박들이 단단해질까 함이라. 이는 만군의 주 하나님께로부터 파멸이 심지어 온 땅 위에 임하기로 결정되었음을 내가 들었기 때문이라.
22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.
23 ¶ 너희는 귀담아듣고, 나의 음성을 들으라. 경청하여 내가 하는 말을 들으라.
23 ¶ Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.
24 밭을 가는 자가 씨를 뿌리려고 종일 밭을 갈기만 하겠느냐? 그가 자기 경지의 흙덩어리들을 갈고 깨뜨리기만 하겠느냐?
24 Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?
25 그가 그곳의 표면을 평평하게 만들었을 때 그가 병아리콩들을 넓게 뿌리고 쿠민을 흩어 뿌리며 으뜸가는 밀과 지정된 보리와 호밀을 그것들의 위치에 뿌려 심지 아니하겠느냐?
25 When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?
26 이는 그의 하나님께서 그를 지도하시어 분별에 이르게 하시고, 또 그를 가르치시기 때문이라.
26 For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.
27 이는 병아리콩들은 타작 기구로 타작되지 아니하고, 쿠민 위로는 짐수레 바퀴가 굴려지지도 아니하기 때문이라. 오직 병아리콩들은 방망이로, 쿠민은 막대기로 탈곡되느니라.
27 For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.
28 빵을 만드는 곡식은 빻아지는도다. 이는 그가 언제까지나 그것을 타작하고만 있지 아니할 것이요, 그것을 그의 짐수레의 바퀴로 부수기만 하지도 아니할 것이요, 자신의 기병들로 그것을 빻기만 하지도 아니할 것이기 때문이라.
28 Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.
29 이것 또한 만군의 주께로부터 나오나니, 그분께서는 계획에 있어서 경이로우시며 일을 하심에 있어서 탁월하시도다.
29 This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.
